Level 1: Intro to the "Thinking Man's Gun"

Service Description

This course offers a foundational understanding of defensive shotgun use, ideal for beginners or those needing a refresher. It covers safe loading and unloading, standard range commands, ammunition selection, data recording for shotguns, recoil management, and maintaining a steady firing rhythm ("FEED THE PIG"). This is the first step in the Defensive Shotgun Series.

Students MUST demonstrate safe loading/unloading and proper gun handling skills.

-- Load/Unload

-- Nomenclature

-- Accessories and setup/fit

-- Ammunition Selection

-- Ready Positions (low ready, high ready, compressed)

-- Introduction to timed standards

-- Buckshot pattern

-- Slug Zero
-- Recoil Mitigation (multiple shot drills)

-- Speed Reload competition for top shot

-- Rolling thunder

Equipment:

• Shot Gun w/ Sling

• Red Dot Optic (Recommended but not required)

• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses

• Recommend electronic hearing protection or earmuffs and earplugs

Ammo: 25 Slugs, 25 Buckshot, 125 Birdshot
